Bullying: A serious issue that can have devastating consequences
What is it:?
The repeated and intentional use of words or actions to intimidate or harm another person.
How does it happen? Can manifest physically (hitting, kicking), verbally (name-calling, insults), emotionally (spreading rumors, exclusion), socially (ostracizing), or through cyberbullying (online harassment, threats).
Consequences:
Severe emotional distress, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and even self-harm.
Why awareness matters: Early identification and prevention are crucial in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone.
Break the silence:
Encourage open communication, empathy, and reporting of bullying incidents. We (PCT) use skits and story telling to spread the awareness.
Personal Safety Education by Padala Charitable Trust:
PCT's Personal Safety Education Module includes Bullying as an important topic to be covered while addressing the younger children. Right awareness at right age in a right way makes all the difference and it is the responsibility of parents, teachers and NGOs to break silence on such an important issues like bullying.
