On 09/11/24, as part of the School of Excellence (SOE) Programme, Padala Charitable Trust (PCT) team visited APSW Lovakothuru Boys to conduct the "Swechha for Boys" program for 9th and 10th-grade students. The focus was on adolescent health education, aiming to address the physical, emotional, and social changes boys experience during this transformative phase of life.

To begin, we conducted a survey to gauge the student's understanding of key topics related to adolescent health, such as physical changes, hygiene and nutrition. This allowed us to tailor the session based on their awareness and comfort levels, ensuring that the content was relevant and engaging for them.

The session covered various aspects of adolescent health, including the physical changes boys undergo during puberty, such as growth in height and weight, voice changes, body hair growth, muscle development and skin changes. We also discussed the importance of hygiene during this period and how maintaining good personal hygiene contributes to overall well-being.

Before concluding, we emphasized the importance of educating boys about menstruation. Understanding menstruation fosters empathy, reduces stigma, and promotes gender equity. By educating boys on this subject, we help create a more supportive and respectful environment for everyone, improving relationships between boys and girls.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, Mr. & Mrs. Bapuji K of TECHGENE Solutions (India and USA), for their generous support, which made this program possible.
