On October 24, 2024 the Padala Charitable Trust (PCT) team conducted an informative and empowering session at the Government Junior College Yeleswaram as part of the College of Excellence (COE) Programme. This initiative was supported by donors Arvensis Energy Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad and The Pasarlapudi Ramaganga Trust, Pasarlapudi.
The session began with a survey to assess the student's awareness and comfort levels on important topics like menstruation, hygiene and nutrition. The responses helped tailor the discussion to the student's needs. The focus was primarily on menstrual hygiene, where the importance of cleanliness during menstruation to prevent infections was emphasized. Different menstrual products such as pads, tampons, and menstrual cups were introduced with guidance on their proper use.
A safe open environment was created for students to share their concerns and ask questions about menstruation, allowing them to feel comfortable expressing themselves. The session aimed to reduce the stigma around menstruation and encouraged students to seek help and advice whenever needed.
The goal was not only to educate but to empower students with the knowledge and confidence to manage their health effectively. By fostering open dialogue, the PCT team helped create a supportive atmosphere where students, especially girls felt comfortable discussing menstruation and related health matters now and in the future.
