Kakinada District Administration Collaborates with Padala Charitable Trust (PCT) to make the District Child Safe and Zero Tolerance on Child Sexual Abuse

A Workshop was held on 22-Oct-24 under the leadership of Kakinada District Collector Shri Shan Mohan IAS to discuss on how to make Kakinada District safe for Children and free from Child Sexual Abuse. The Workshop was attended by all the Heads of Departments of Administration and Law and Order. 

The Workshop was conducted in Collaboration with Kakinada Sea Ports Limited and Padala Charitable Trust.

Padala Charitable Trust CEO Surya Prasad explained the current situation of Child Sexual abuse and its effects and remedial measures in Collaboration with District Administration. He also elaborated on NCPCR (National Commission for Protection of Child Rights) and POCSO Act. As part of solution towards preventing Child Sexual Abuse, he suggested establishing Child Protection Committees at Mandal Level, creating Trainers and Conducting Awareness Sessions in every School and Hostel in the District. 

The Collector Shri Shan Mohan expressed sadness over instances of Child abuse and highlighted the need to take urgent steps to control and raise awareness around Child Sexual Abuse and POCSO Act. He expressed the need for Government and NGOs Partnership to conduct Awareness sessions on Safe Touch and Unsafe Touch. He expressed the desire to establish a Child Help line at the district level and solve any complaints around Child safety immediately. 

Shri Shan Mohan IAS, advised Ms. H S Bhavana, IAS, Asst Collector to take this initiative further with Padala Charitable Trust and District Officials.
